The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense.
Ivy, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is finally looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have found it in San Francisco, but all that changes when she witnesses a terrible crime. She’s ready to pack up her things yet again, when a random encounter with a stranger keeps her in the city, giving her reason to stay after all.
That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter wasn’t random. Not at all…

So What Did I Think Of Surviving Ice by K.A. Tucker?

I was a bit wary with starting this story because the other two stories in this series wasn’t really for me, but I did really enjoy K. A. Tuckers Ten Tiny Breaths series. Plus I was intrigued by this story line and thought to just give it a shot and was happy that I did!

The Story

I was really intrigued by the story and the prospect of intense drama, crazy suspense and the hit of danger with Ivy dealing with the aftermath of her uncles death and the grief and danger that he left behind. As well as dealing with the mysterious and dangerous Sebastian with romance initing between them.

I’m glad to say that these elements, the suspense, drama and danger really did shine throughout the story, capturing and holding my attention. With the strong suspense at what Ivy would do after the tragedy of her uncles murder and all the serious, deadly questions raised at why he was murdered in the first place. I enjoyed as a reader knowing what was happening through the dual perspective of seeing the story through Ivy and Sebastian and having that strong anticipation at when Ivy would find out the truth about why what happened to her uncle happened and how Sebastian was involved.

The

characters

Both Sebastian and Ivy were bold edgy characters, with strong personalities. Sebastian was your hard dangerous ex-miliary man capable of so much violence yet a strong moral sense that kept him likeable. I really enjoyed seeing the hard ice melt and Sebastian open up himself and his emotions come out in the face of love. Seeing his protectiveness and caring towards Ivy was so so enjoyable. Ivy was a super edgy independent tattoo artist that spoke her mind and had a quick whit that make things challenging for Sebastian do what he needed to do which was great.

The romance

With them being edgy complex characters I was excited to see them come together. Turned out that they had a sizzling romance filled with really solid chemistry that was filled with challenge. There was a bit of slow burn journey which I really liked and built up the anticipation as well as gave them time to get to know each other. I would have liked for a more intense romance that could have match the suspense of the story.

Overall it was cool that I picked up Surviving Ice by K. A Tucker. I ended up really liking the story.
