I never really knew what misery was until the day I was kidnapped and sold for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Two months later, I'm at a brothel in Rio when I meet Daniel Hays. He says he's here to save me, but can I trust him? All I know of him are his sarcastic retorts and his tendency to solve every dispute with his gun. Last Breath was this dark, harsh engaging story that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. This story dealt with some super heavy, hard topics that hurt my heart such as sexual abuse, human trafficking and murder. My attention was grabbed and my heart went out to Regan as she dealt with the horrible situation she was forced into. I really loved Regan’s fight, how even with the horrible situation happening to her, Regan had such a strong spirit and didn’t let things break her. She had attitude and vengeance and was strong enough to face her issues head on and open herself up to love.
Daniel was such an awesome kickass guy that had my interest since he was first introduced in the first story Last Hit and I really felt him in this one. I really loved his hard, sarcastic, in your face personality and his determination to do what needed to be done for Regan and his sister. Though he felt out of his depth with helping Regan heal I felt he did an amazing job helping her get though it.
Regan and Daniels interaction with each other was snarky, sarcastic, emotional and blazingly sexy. With all the craziness, danger and heartache surrounding them their connection and chemistry blazed bright. There was constant intense action and danger in every chapter that kept the story moving in a great pace. With the extremely gritty edginess, action, blazing romance that kept me immersed in Regan and Daniel’s journey of freedom and vengeance, Last Breath by Jessica Clare & Jen Frederick was a delicious story.
