From the acclaimed bestselling author of Lost to You and When We Collide comes a New Adult novel of one woman’s obsession: a man who’s as passionate as he is elusive—and as tempting as he is trouble...
Aleena Moore is haunted by Jared Holt. It’s been six years since she’s seen her brother’s best friend, the self-destructive bad boy she secretly loved in high school. As the years pass, she knows it’s time to move on. Time to decide between a practical nursing degree and her true dream as an artist. Time to get over Jared and give another guy a chance... Just when she opens her heart to her friend, Gabe,
Aly returns home to find Jared sleeping on her couch. The teenage boy she loved has grown into a man she can’t resist. Covered in tattoos and lost in rage, he’s begging to be saved from his demons—the memories of the day he destroyed his family. As the two reconnect, their passion is hot enough to torch Aly’s judgment. But can she risk her future for a man who lives on the edge of destruction?
Reading the synopsis I knew that this was gonna be an emotional read and it was. I could understand Aly trying to deal with her feelings with Jared and her life. I liked how she willing to put herself out here. Such a struggle with Jared and what he and everyone went through. I was saddened at what he continued to put himself through.
While reading I hoped that Jared could pull himself out of it and that Aly could help him. Jared had such and haunting past that he let tear him apart inside. It took a while but I was happy when he finally opening up to Aly showing his true color of being an open teasing nice guy.
Loved the scenes were Aly and Jared were young and innocent and I got to really see the bond and connection that they had for each other form and grow.
Aly and Jared’s relationship had so much sexual tension and was constantly in flux and evolving, ultimately a tough love story. They had an emotionally sizzling romance as Aly tried to deal with her true feelings for Jared and Jared tried to understand the growing feelings he was developing for Aly. Though I wasn’t really feeling the back and forth of Jared’s feelings with his relationship with Aly when it was clear that he cared about her. I wanted him to take more of a chance and I wanted Aly to hold him to it.
In the end I liked Come To Me Quietly by A. L. Jackson, it had some emotion filled with loss and angst and a sizzling passion with elements that I liked from the unrequited love and eventually the friends to lovers with the underlining conflicts that went with it. Though the story didn’t completely grab me I am looking forward to reading more from A. L. Jackson.
