What drew me to Another Little Piece of My Heart by Tracey Martin was the potential drama and angst and it being a retelling of Jane Austen’s Persuasion one of my favorite Jane Austen story so I was excited to read.
The fact that Jared forever immortalized his and Claire’s brake up in a hit record made things so much more complicated and awkward for Claire dealing with that and her horrible situation made things so challenging for her but she forced herself to face things though bitterly. In the end though it was messed up that she did what she did to their relationship in but in light of the reason behind it I could understand.
Its one thing to have your horrible break up immortalized in a famous song by your ex, but its a whole other ball game to have to face him and his success. Thats what Claire had to go through when Jared show up at her family’s home town and she’s constantly seeing him since he’s friends with her cousins, throwing them into one awkward situation after another. Though they do throw jabs at each other and mad tension between they don’t address things until way later in the story, opting to hide their relationship which I wish they would have addressed things headon.
This was a sweet love lost rekindling romance between Jared and Claire. Their was some tension with their history and the anger they had towards each other in the beginning but the connection they had in the past showed it face in the end.
Another Little Piece of My Heart by Tracey Martin was a nice read. It had conflict and funny awkwardness between Claire and Jared and emotional baggage. I just wanted more, more intensity and passion between Claire and Jared given what they were going through. I wanted to really feel Claire and Jared connection and struggle and I wanted to get to know Jared more than I did. Other than that it was a nice story that I liked.
