Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend's brother, Hunter, for, like, ever. He's the key to everything she's always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she's kissed exactly one guy, she has the perfect plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom: take a few pointers from someone who knows what he's doing.
Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he's beyond gorgeous, but he's also dangerous and deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as a lesson in attraction is turning both their worlds upside down, and showing them just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what's real. . . .
What drew me to reading Foreplay by Sophie Jordan was the potential intensity of the story with Pepper being in love with her best friends brother Hunter and the crazy lengths she’s willing to take for them to be together.
I give Pepper credit for being willing to go after what she wants with a bit of pressure from her roommates / friends. Though she isn’t that naive to not realize how crazy the plan is in the first place. But its that craziness to go through with it on her terms that makes the story interesting.
In comes Reece, the bartender, who’s gorgeous, mysterious and brings with him a whole lot of complications that Pepper wasn’t really expecting, which I loved! Bring on the complications. So the relationship between Pepper and Reece is suppose to be a kind of learning relationship that could grow to friendship but it was anything but. From the moment they met sparks flew between them and the sexual tension blew that assumption out of the window.
With the reason behind Reece and Pepper relationship I was expecting a hot and steamy romance but I also wanted a genuine connection between them. Through the lessons I got to learn more about Reece and his past and what made him the man that he was as well as with Pepper. Together they started to form a connection with each other that I wanted to see.
With the growing connection between Reece and Pepper all the while Pepper feels she’s in love with Hunter. Yea a complication and an obvious love triangle which I am not really fond of but Hunter isn’t as upfront in the story as Reece and Pepper is so it wasn’t as big a deal for me.
Foreplay by Sophie Jordan was a fun read. I enjoyed stepping into Pepper’s crazy life as she tried to learn some lessons in attraction but ended up getting so much more. Pepper ended up learning about herself and what she really wants out of her love life and life in general.
