Author Interview: Clarity’s Kim Harrington
Thanks so much for stopping by Literary Cravings, how did you come up with the idea for Clarity and did you see it as a stand alone or series when you first started it??
I saw it as a standalone story with characters who had series potential. So while the mystery would be wrapped up in each book, character arcs and relationships could continue.
How did you pick the psychic abilities for Clare and her family and is there a reason behind each of their abilities?
I researched paranormal gifts online on several websites and picked the three that I found the most compelling. Then I created rules for each of their gifts within the CLARITY world. For instance, Clare can only see visions from the past from when someone else held the same object. Nothing from the future.
In the beginning, what or who spoke to your first? The story or the characters?
The characters came first and I took a while to develop them, their personalities, and motivations. Then came the mystery plot.
Can you tell us anything about what’s in store for Clare and her family? Will we get a deeper look into Clare’s family and history?
I can’t say too much at this point, only that the sequel to CLARITY is called PERCEPTION and will be released in March 2012. 🙂
Since finishing Clarity what are you working on next?
Up next is PERCEPTION and after that, in fall 2012, I have a standalone supernatural mystery coming out. This one’s a ghost story, and I’m very excited about it!
