Hi Pietr.
Pietr:

Tania:
How challenging is it for you to keep you and your family secrets…well..secret?
Pietr:
It has been difficult to keep the family secrets a secret. Max certainly has not made it easy. He likes to show off and use his abilities to impress any girl in viewing range. I think we’ve all almost let the truth slip out at one time or another. I told Jess that day on the bus… But she got angry and thought I was being an idiot. Sometimes fact is harder to swallow than fiction.
Tania:
And did you have temptations over the years to tell someone?
Pietr:
The temptation to share the truth is always there. We canít be understood and–this is going to sound amazingly lame–really loved until we’re first understood. Da, I’ve been tempted, but not nearly as much as Jess being in my life has tempted me to share the truth in hopes she understands me enough to want to love me.
Tania:
How complicated has life been before and after you met Jessica?
Pietr:
Ha! I think life is even more complicated with Jess around some days… But having her around makes it easier at the same time. I know she’s there for me as much as she can be. In the past I only had my parents or my siblings to trust and rely on–and if you have siblings you know even those relationships are tricky. With Jess life is still complicated, I think it will always be complicated, but the complications are more bearable with her at my back. But knowing we donít have much time together… There are times playing the lone wolf is easier. You have no one to hurt but yourself.
Tania:
Speaking of your life being complicated, If you had the choice to change anything about your complicated life what would it be and why?
Pietr:
I would remove the complication that Sarah has become in my relationship with Jess. I cannot have the relationship I want to have with Jess if I am spending so much time with Sarah. But perhaps I am not supposed to have the relationship I want to have with Jess after all…
Tania:
With you and your family’s lives being thrust in the spotlight with the success of 13 to Life and the upcoming Secret and Shadows, how do you feel about and handle the publicity?
Pietr:
Luckily not all of the family secrets are out yet–although there are plans for five books in Shannon Delany’s series, so we shall see, da? I still manage to stick to the shadows most times and very few people realize I am one of the people influencing Delany’s novels. They are considered fiction, after all. I mean–who would really believe there are Russian-American werewolves in Small Town, USA? Fact is so strange sometimes it must be labeled fiction.
