And you thought your family was strange.
I am dying. . . I might get the chance to know you before death takes me...I would like you to be my guest at Sommerset. . .I have enclosed a check for $ 10,000. . . Should you accept my offer...
Uncle Silas has always been greedy, evil, insulting, and extremely rich! But a dying uncle with a vast fortune is definitely one worth getting to know. Even if it means spending 2 months on his secluded island home with a houseful of suspicious servants and a hungry pet crocodile.
But what is Uncle Silas really up to? Will Adele, Milo, and Isabella outlive Uncle Silas to inherit his money? And just who is that mysterious "guest" in his basement? Is it worth the money (or their lives) to stick around and find out?
Love the drawing with all of the colors and characters. Bringing to light the dangerous situation that the kids find themselves in.
Mostly every family has that one mean uncle or weird cousin and in the Winterbottom family its definitely Silas Winterbottom. Out of all of his siblings Silas is the meanest most dangerous person of all and little do his nieces and nephew, Adele, Isabella and Milo know, their reunion with their uncle holds more than they expect. I was expecting a nice light read and received an intense, dangerous high stakes story that had me on the edge of my seat flipping through the pages to find out what will happen to these unsuspecting children. Brought to Silas’s private island estate Sommerset under the impression that Silas will pick his heir between the three of them, they soon find themselves in competition with themselves and an even deadlier game with their uncle that could cost them their lives. From the beginning we know that Silas Winterbottom is a bad man capable and responsible for some horrible acts that cost people their lives. So the excitement and suspense isn’t whether Silas’s is evil or not but whether Isabella, Milo and Adele will figure out his plan in enough time to save themselves. I really enjoyed all of the characters and how they vastly differ and was complex making the story so much more enjoyable. I appreciated how each of the children come to Sommerset with their own reason and plan and how throughout the story they grew and changed growing closer together. Loved the mystery, action and danger beautifully within the story bringing up the maturity level but not to drastically. The ending wrapped thing nicely but with room for a sequel which I can’t wait to read. Readers are in for a great story filled with action, mystery, danger and crocodiles!!
